DEPARTMENT: Emergency Management
JOB SUMMARY: The Emergency Management Coordinator will work closely with and report to the Emergency Preparedness Manager to develop the community's resilience in the face of hazards. Manage the emergency preparedness outreach and education program, focusing on reaching residents, neighborhoods, businesses, schools, and Tulalip entity employees to encourage emergency preparedness for threats and hazards. This position will assist with ensure effective communications between departments and to the public on behalf of Emergency Management. This position will be responsible for the overall mission, strategies, and creation of partnerships to enhance and promote disaster preparedness outreach in the Tulalip community. This position also applies for and writes grants requests.
COMPENSATION: $27.62hr.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Associate Degree in Communications, Emergency Management, Planning, Project Management or related field. *Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
MINIMUM RELATED EXPERIENCE
- Four (4) years of experience in project management.
- Four (4) years of experience with public presentations.
- Two (2) years of experience working with grants and budgets.
SKILLS TESTING
- Typing 25 WPM
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES
- WA State Driver License. (Personal Auto Insurance)
- Must adhere to the Motor Vehicle Regulation (Abstract Required)
- CPR/First Aid certificate.
- Must have completed Incident Command System Courses *This is a web-based course; must show certificates.
- IS-100.B; Introduction to Incident Command System,
- IS-700.A; National Incident Management System (NIMS) An Introduction,
- IS-800.B; National Response Framework, An Introduction; https://training.fema.gov/nims/
- Must complete Incident Command System Courses. *Will allow ninety (90) days to obtain:
- ICS-300 Intermediate Incident Command System for Expanding Incidents
- ICS-400: Advanced ICS Command and General Staff – Complex Incidents
- CERT Management certifications. *Will allow six (6) months to obtain.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a Contracted position.
