What are the responsibilities and job description for the Academic Counselor position at Tulane University Staff?
The Academic Counselor provides educational guidance and assistance by planning schedules, recommending courses and determining appropriate education solutions for an assigned case load / portfolio of business majors, minors and other students enrolled in business courses. The position also requires utilization of a CRM system such as Salesforce to manage advising and a student information system database such as Banner to access student academic records.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills including the ability to work in a collaborative manner positions and units within the University.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions related to student academic advising.
- Ability to work with confidential information protected under FERPA and other rules / regulations.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (or equivalent) applications, experience with a customer relationship management application such Salesforce and experience with a student information system database such as Banner.
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline.
- At least 4 years of relevant experience.
- Advising experience in higher education.
