This position promotes and enhances the image of the Tulane University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics through media relations, public relations, social media, and web communications. This position serves as the point person for comprehensive integrated communications and marketing strategies.Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong interpersonal skillsStrong writing skillsAbility to interact effectively with coaches, administrators, student athletes, and vendorsExtremely organized, self-starter, intrinsically motivatedStrong organizational, management, and leadership skillsProficient computer skills including word processing, HTML, and social mediaProven ability to multi-task effectivelyAbility to prioritize assignments and meet deadlinesAvailable to work flexible work schedule including nights and weekendsAbility to travel with sport teams for away contestsThorough knowledge of NCAA and American Conference rules and regulationsNCAA Related :

Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations. Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary. Reports potential rules violations immediately. Completes required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner. Monitors all of their areas and / or programs activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations.Required Education and / or ExperienceAssistant Athletic Director :
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5 years of experience in media relations, media coverage, social and digital media, web communications, and writing communicationsOR
- High School Diploma / equivalent
- 11 years of experience in media relations, media coverage, social and digital media, web communications, and writing communicationsAssociate Athletic Director :
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 7 years of experience in media relations, media coverage, social and digital media, web communications, and writing communicationsOR
- High School Diploma / equivalent
- 13 years of experience in media relations, media coverage, social and digital media, web communications, and writing communicationsPreferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- Experience at the Division I FBS levelCompensation InformationThis position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 26PREM.
