Summary
The Assistant Athletics Director, Major Gifts is a professional fundraising position responsible for leading the Athletics Development major gift program including identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding a targeted portfolio of priority fundraising prospects in concert with Athletics’ strategic priorities and objectives. Will also be responsible to tracking of team fundraising activities such as monthly and quarterly solicitations, visits, and portfolio reviews. This position works closely with University Advancement and athletic leadership to execute fundraising initiatives aimed at raising private donor support for Tulane Athletics.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Ensures that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference and NCAA rules and regulations. Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations. Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary. Reports potential rules violations immediately. Completes required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner. Monitors all his/her areas and/or program activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations.

- Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets and other software necessary to the development operation
- Availability to work flexible work schedule including nights and weekends
- Ability to travel locally and nationally for appointments
- Thorough knowledge of NCAA and American conference rules and regulations

Required Education And/or Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5 years’ direct fundraising or related experience in the solicitation and closing of gifts of $100K and higher. Transferable, related experience such as marketing, admissions, public relations, alumni relations, trust officer, or sales may be considered.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 11 years’ direct fundraising or related experience in the solicitation and closing of gifts of $100K and higher (transferable, related experience such as marketing, admissions, public relations, alumni relations, trust officer, or sales may be considered).
- Master’s Degree
- Working knowledge of Advance, Paciolan, and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
