What are the responsibilities and job description for the College Academic Advisor, Progress and Completion position at Tulane University?
The College Academic Advisor for Progress and Completion works with Newcomb-Tulane college students who are experiencing academic and/or personal barriers to degree progress and completion. Primary responsibilities include: meeting with students to assess concerns and create a strategy for academic progress, assisting students of concern through supportive and holistic advising, aiding students in navigating various NTC policies and processes as appropriate, collecting and submitting appropriate documentation for university processes, providing referrals to support services within the University, and liaising with various campus partners and support services.
The College Academic Advisor coordinates with college advisors to identify students of concern. This position works with college advising leadership to identify students with intensive advising needs and provide additional support to these students.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to effectively assist and support students, particularly students who may be experiencing academic, personal, and/or health-related challenges.
- Ability to interact cooperatively with individuals internal and external to the organization in an effective and courteous manner.
- Excellent organizational skills, attentive to details, and able to handle multiple demands simultaneously.
- Ability to use the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Access, etc.)
- Familiarity with data management and systems such as Banner, SalesForce, Slate, Box, etc.
Required Education and/or Experience
- 1 year of experience working at a college or university in Academic Advising and/or Case Management or Coaching.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree.
- 3 years of experience working at a college or university in Academic Advising and/or Case Management.
