What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Analyst II position at Tulane University?
The Financial Analyst II performs comprehensive analyses and projections, relating to business trends to improve the School’s operational and financial effectiveness. This position performs analysis of financial reports and data and assists the Assistant Dean in preparing subsequent narrative analysis for management inclusive of recommendations. This position develops detailed financial models to help reduce cycle times for annual budgeting, projections and reporting.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

- Ability to contribute to department-specific business strategies.
- Ability to prepare financial reports and forecasts and form data-based solutions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to interact with individuals internal and external to the organization in an effective, courteous, and productive manner.
- Excellent organizational skills: the ability to prioritize work to meet anticipated and established deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and the propensity to bring projects or issues to closure.
- Ability to analyze possible solutions using technical experience.
- Strong computer skills with emphasis on word processing, database, and spreadsheet software applications. Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a Higher Education setting.
Required Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 3 years of directly related experience.
