Summary
The Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager leads the development and implementation of the Tulane University system-wide category strategies. The Sourcing team is responsible for establishing and implementing system-wide category strategies, including category management, strategic sourcing, contract management, supplier relationship management, utilization management, risk assessment, and demand management. This position works with a high degree of autonomy as a system-wide sourcing category team member under the direction of the Director of Procurement. This position implements strategic sourcing opportunities and strategies that meet the needs of Tulane University, leverages annual category spend, and produces best-in-class supplier contracts and supplier relationships.
The Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager analyzes spend by category, using appropriate business metrics, modifying category strategies to maintain flexibility in responding to new opportunities or changing University business needs. This position participates in the development of a forecasted sourcing/projects pipeline that prioritizes sourcing initiatives to pursue and tracks significant on-going cost savings and execute against a plan. This position develops and maintains category-specific knowledge including leading practices and trends. The Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager may participate in multiple Request For Proposal (RFP) processes. This position works with both supplier partners and campus stakeholders to identify efficiencies. The Sourcing team is a high performing strategic department essential to the financial and operational health of Tulane University. This position may manage multiple employees.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Full understanding and experience in Procurement and the entire P2P process
- Understanding of complex contracts and risk assessment.
- Ability to negotiate complex contracts in the best interest of Tulane and show documented savings.
- Demonstrate successful relationship building with suppliers and campus stakeholders.
- Ability to independently analyze spend areas within assigned categories, provide recommendations on sourcing strategies, and deliver savings to Tulane University.
- Ability to show confidence and executive presence in business situations and be able to influence and persuade, demonstrate category expertise, and be able to quickly pivot as demands change.
- Ability to promote a positive work environment and the spirit of cooperation and support for co-workers.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- 4 years of experience in Sourcing Management, includes managing staff.
- Experience with organizational leadership and project management.
- Master’s Degree in Business Management, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Understanding of Agile methodology and project management as it relates to day-to-day business.
- Experience in Higher Education.
- Experience with managing and running the Request For Proposal (RFP) process for strategic purchasing opportunities.
- Departmental budget expertise.
- Experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).
