Essential Functions (Responsibilities): Organize, direct and administer the athletic communications and content office and the publicity for 17 intercollegiate sports. Oversee and supervise staff in the athletic communications and content departments. Develop and implement athletic brand standards and tools for brand decision-making. Design, monitor and improve operational workflow to efficiently produce, distribute and manage rights to meaningful content. Develop and implement a strategic media plan that enhances the Tulsa athletics image and brand. Expand programming and content creation capabilities across print, video, photography, video, social media, etc. Increase distribution and fan consumption across broadcast, mobile, web, in-venue. Manage the financial affairs of media production, ensuring costs remain within budget, providing appropriate reconciliations, forecasting short-term and long-term revenue and expense, working with Athletic staff on content monetization plans. Handle all national TV broadcast communication and set-up for televised games, including providing TU team study materials, coach/player interviews with talent, site walkthrough with production team, and any site questions and needs. Serve as the primary public relations representative for the athletic department and operates as the liaison between the athletic department, its coaches and players, and the media. Serve as liaison between the athletic department’s communications office and the Conference media relations office and the NCAA statistics bureau. Primary communications contact for football and women’s golf; secondary contact for m/w basketball, tennis and cross country. Establish and maintain relationships with local, regional and national media, while pushing story ideas and promoting Tulsa athletics. Oversee traditional sports information department duties, including, but not limited to: writing, edit/proofing of sport record & fact books, game notes, game advances, news releases, game recaps, game programs; compile statistical information, game and cumulative stats, for sports; coordinate and set-up all game day media operations; coordinate hiring of gameday workers needed for each sport; setup media interviews with athletes, coaches and athletic administrators; handle all media credential requests for athletic events; nominate and promote student-athletes for national, regional and conference awards. Maintain official athletics website. Travel and handle all road communications activities for football. Assist TV Production Guides for broadcast television for football and basketball venues. Coordinate all broadcast television activities to fulfill ESPN contract. Manage and direct a team of students from our Pathways to Sports Academy program.
