Job Summary
Under general supervision, maintains and operates the Splash Park Facility during the summer season : May - October. Performs periodic routine checks and services during the off season and performs shut down and start up procedures to maintain the system by performing the following duties.
Job Description
All candidates conditionally offered transfer, promotion or initial hiring into a DOT / safety-sensitive position shall submit to testing for drugs and alcohol and test negative before performing any job functions that are safety-sensitive or require a CDL. External job applicants with a confirmed positive drug or alcohol test result shall be denied employment and shall be required to wait one year before applying for another position within Tulsa County.
Essential Job Functions
- Operate the Splash Park facility and economically for public and private use.
- Service and maintain water pumps, sand filters, sediment / debris screens, feature valves, system plumbing, UV light, chlorine and Ph levels and programs in order to keep the system running at peak performance.
- Maintain shelters, restrooms, and pump room maintenance and the grounds and parking lot of this area to include; trash pickup, mowing, edging, blowing, tree maintenance, painting, and fence maintenance, playground structure maintenance, and service and repairs.
- Run lifts, loaders, and sump pumps.
- Operate and maintain the irrigation system.
- Perform all duties of an Operator-Maintenance III-labor position during the time the Splash Park is not in operation.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Skill in Splash Park operations; in operating the control programs (Maestro) to each subsystem of the total operations; in filtration screens, elevation pumps, each feature plumbing and operation, ventilation and heating, holding tank filling and draining, and rain diverter switch.
Knowledge of mechanical operation of the splash park system; of the hazards and safety precautions of the work; of departmental policies and procedures; and of general park maintenance.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; to operate trucks and other motorized equipment; to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods; to use hand and mechanical tools and equipment; and to read and understand chemical labels.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; and Project Management software.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises 1-3 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and / or Experience
One year certificate from a college or technical school; plus three to six months related experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and / or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumferences, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
