What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mascot Assistant / Performer position at Tulsa Drillers?
The Tulsa Drillers are the Double A Affiliate of the 2024 World Series Champions - Los Angeles Dodgers and play at ONEOK Field in the historic Greenwood District. In 2024, the Drillers drew 300,000 fans for the 14th straight season. The Drillers were named the Texas League Organization of the year in 2013, 2014, 2017 & 2020 while also being named the Bob Freitas Double A Organization of the Year in 2013 & 2019.
The Tulsa Drillers are seeking a part-time, creative, energetic, fan-focused individual to perform as our secondary mascot(s) as well as be an assistant for Hornsby throughout the season. The performer should possess interpersonal skills, especially with children. A qualified performer should be skilled in physical performance including dance and spontaneous crowd-interaction. All qualified applicants may be required to participate in an “invitation only” audition to be held by the Drillers on TBD Date.
Performer Qualifications

Performer Qualifications
- High School Student or Above
- Choreography, Prop Building, Skit Writing experience preferred
- Must be physically fit
- Must be able to most home games on Weekends and Holidays (Night Games)
- Must have a reliable means of Transportation
Performer Responsibilities
- Opportunity to perform Tulsa Drillers home games as well as potential outside of stadium appearances.
- Assist in maintaining and caring for Costume(s), Props and Accessories.
- Assist in developing and executing new skits.
- Spontaneous Crowd interaction during games.
- Assist in following Mascots' schedules of events such as in-game activities, skits, sponsored photo ops, and requested appearances.
- Work in excessive heat under stressful conditions.
Handler Qualifications
- Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to relate with fans of all ages and backgrounds, especially kids.
- Should be able to handle crowd interaction and management.
- Must be punctual and possess good time management.
- Must possess keen observational skills.
- Should have at least basic baseball knowledge.
- Must have the ability to work outside for extended periods of time.
- Available to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
- Take and follow direction from Mascot Coordinator.
- Collaborate with Promo team.
- Punctuality is mandatory.
Handler Responsibilities
- Accompany mascot while performing game duties.
- Assist fans with taking pictures, autographs, and answer questions regarding Hornsby.
- Act as the ''eyes, ears and voice” for the mascot performer, including awareness of game progression, in-game scheduling, location visits, fan requests, and potential hazards.
- Carry mascot supplies (signs, props, autograph cards, t-shirts, etc).
- Assist mascot with skit writing and creative in venue activities.
- Assist mascot with a variety of duties that may arise during the season.
- Potentially act as the backup Hornsby when the primary performer is unable to perform a game.
- Ideal applicants for this position should have a creative, energetic, and outgoing personality with the ability to motivate others and have a passion for having fun.
- Photography and social media skills are preferred.
