Pay: DOE; $20-$22 plus tips

Overview:
As an Assistant Manager in the Rentals department at Tumalo Creek, you will help drive our seasonal rental operation for our three Bend, OR locations. The successful candidate will develop a rental team through thoughtful and motivating leadership while providing direction through an ever-changing and fast paced environment. As an assistant manager, you will act as both a mentor and teacher, developing staff to bring out the very best in your rental team.
An ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker; capable of setting goals, planning in advance, and carrying out tasks for a successful operating season. As Assistant Manager, you will regularly coordinate with Tumalo Creek’s management team while working hands-on with seasonal staff to support operations.
The Assistant Manager will focus on creating positive relationships with our guests and community. Tumalo Creek has been a community pillar for over 20 years, and we seek team members who are dedicated to community support, stewardship, and promoting responsible recreation. This role will support the Rental Manager in providing outstanding customer experiences while instilling these values in our rentals team. Tumalo Creek serves many visitors each season, and the Assistant Manager has a great opportunity to help educate customers and users on the care of our river, environment, and community.
The Assistant Manager position is a permanent seasonal role, requiring full dedication in the summer. Expect to have winters free to pursue whatever ventures appeal to you.
Summary of responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of all Tumalo Creek’s rental locations.
- Maintain enjoyable customer experiences, resolve issues as they arise.
- Regularly assess performance and provides feedback to seasonal rentals employees. * Assist with scheduling staff appropriately across all locations.
- Assist with the management of equipment, delegating and guiding maintenance and repairs.
- Assist with managing retail items at rental locations maintaining merchandising and inventory.
- Keep all rental locations organized in structure and appearance.
Required Qualifications:
- Clean driving record
- Computer literate
- Self-starter, proficient at working alone and in a group
- Confidence in managing a young, diverse, seasonal team
- Commitment to maintaining positive company culture
- CPR 1aid certified (Can complete after hire)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous operations management
- Retail experience (sales and merchandising)
- Experience with scheduling software, retail POS etc
- Experience driving with a trailer
- CDL (Commercial Driver’s License)
- Swift water rescue
- Advanced 1aid (WAFA, WFR, EMT, etc…
- Paddle-sports experience

Tumalo Creek’s rentals operation serves the largest number of guests a year out of any other department. As such, the rentals operation provides the best opportunity to educate river users about responsible recreation and care.
Our rental operation can expect to serve upward of one thousand customers a day on busy days. It is a fast paced environment requiring a well-functioning team and proper planning. The rentals operation typically consists of 40 seasonal staff members and requires strong communication with other Tumalo Creek staff and partnering entities. Tumalo Creek’s rental operation has many moving parts to manage; perfect for a tactical thinker, proactive planner, and enthusiastic leader.
