The Assistant Brewer performs basic brewery and distillery tasks under the supervision of the Head Brewer/Distiller and Manager of Production.
Flexible hours and schedule, but generally 32 hours per week M-F between the hours of 9 and 5.
Must be detail oriented and able to work cooperatively.
Hourly wage depends on experience.
This is an entry level position, and there is a possibility for advancement at the brewery distillery production space.

Role Overview:
As an Assistant Brewer at Tumbleroot, you will be integral to the brewing process, working alongside our skilled brewing team. This position will provide you with comprehensive training on all aspects of brewing, from recipe creation to fermentation and packaging. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Brewer and Manager of Production in the production of beer, including brewing, fermentation, and packaging.
- Operate brewing equipment, ensuring proper function and maintenance.
- Assist with monitoring the fermentation process and conducting quality control checks.
- Record and document brewing processes, including ingredients, time, and temperature.
- Clean and sanitize brewing equipment and work areas, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Participate in the development and testing of new beer recipes.
- Help maintain inventory of brewing ingredients and materials.
Training and Development:
Our comprehensive training program is designed to help you learn the ins and outs of the brewing process. Key components of your training include:
- Orientation: Introduction to Tumbleroot’s culture, values, company policies, and health & safety procedures.
- Brewing Process: Hands-on training in brewing techniques, equipment use, and ingredient handling.
- Quality Control: Training in taste testing, fermentation monitoring, and ensuring the consistency of our products.
- Health & Safety: Education on sanitation practices, chemical handling, and maintaining a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
- A strong interest in brewing and craft beer production.
- Ability to work well in a team and follow directions accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
- A passion for learning new skills and growing in the brewing industry.
- Previous brewing or food production experience is a plus but not required.
