The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing all aspects of the company’s financial records, including day-to-day bookkeeping, performing account reconciliations, generating financial reports, analyzing financial data and providing strategic financial advice to leadership. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and the ability to wear multiple hats in a fast-paced environment.
Accounting operations
- Manage general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of all transactions
- Perform bank and account reconciliations
- Perform accounts payable and receivable processes
- Prepare journal entries and adjusting entries
Financial reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Maintain weekly cashflow report to facilitate decision making
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, potential issues, and opportunities for improvement
- Create insightful reports for management to inform decision making
Budgeting and forecasting
- Develop annual budgets and monitor monthly in collaboration with each department
- Adjust forecasts monthly based on the actual state of the business to support planning
Internal controls
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy
- Review and document accounting procedures
Other duties
- Assist with audit preparations by providing necessary documentation
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial data integrity
- Assist with some HR administrative tasks like payroll and benefits administration

- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
- 4 years experience in accounting
- Experience in a small business highly preferred
- Proficiency in accounting software (QBO)
- Experience with Shopify and SOS preferred
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders; comfortable implementing changes across departments
- Strong organizational skills
- Good analytical skills; able to identify trends and use this information to make strategic recommendations
- Intermediate to advanced excel skills
