Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide counseling and support to individuals struggling with substance abuse disorders in a clinical setting. As a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor at TUMS Family Services, you play an integral role in the treatment coordination of Intensitive Outpatient Program (IOP) You will partner with other providers to establish and maintain a therapeutic role in each patient’s substance use treatment plan. This individual will complete all relevant paperwork in a timely fashion as required by agency, regulatory bodies, and managed care organizations; this includes but is not limited to intake paperwork, psychosocial assessments and client mental health and substance use disorder treatment history, treatment plans, session notes, discharge and aftercare plans, collaborative forms and assessments, billing forms and insurance authorizations. The Certified Substance Abuse Counselor must be available for group 8am-6 pm Monday-Friday.
Candidate MUST have CSAC certificate.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient assessments to determine treatment needs
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Provide counseling and therapy sessions to address addiction issues
- Utilize cognitive behavioral therapy techniques
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals for comprehensive patient care
- Offer crisis management support when needed
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with coding standards (ICD-10)
- Engage in case management to coordinate care services
Experience:
- CSAC - Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (Required)
- One year experience working in the substance misuse treatment field.
- One year experience working in the mental health counseling field.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience providing individuals and diverse populations.
- Excellent, verbal, written and computer skills; EMRs, MS Word, and MS Excel preferred
- Ability to work with individuals and groups.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Behavioral Health or related field
- Previous experience in addiction medicine or behavioral health setting
- Proficiency in patient care and counseling techniques
- Familiarity with cognitive behavioral therapy methods
- Strong crisis management skills
