What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal position at Tunnel to Towers Foundation?
Job purpose
The mission of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is to honor the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. We also honor our military and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation seeks experienced and highly skilled professional to join our Legal Team.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Handle general administrative duties including processing invoices, tracking payments, sorting and sending department mail, ordering supplies, etc.
- Track deadlines and terminations of ongoing agreements with third parties, notify staff members when an agreement is to be renewed.
- Track the status of contracts to be reviewed or drafted by the department.
- Including review of intake sheets pertaining to the contract requests.
- Review potential land donation requests and provide an assessment on the feasibility of acceptance based on provided parameters.
- Work with outside counsel to initiate certain procedures relating to drafting home purchase and trust transfer documents.
- Prepare and keep files for recipients.
- Track status of tax payments for recipient homes before and after they have been transferred to trust.
- Track due dates for annual state filings and submit all filings in a timely manner.
- Track litigation deadlines and all government imposed deadlines for exemptions etc.
- Prepare documents related to interdepartmental requests.
- Assist legal team in preparing and submitting applications for insurance coverage in connection with, among other things, property purchases and special events; work with insurance broker to track status of application submissions, receipt of insurance quotes, and bind orders.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as paralegal.
- Strong sense of judgement when dealing with confidential information.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a high-level of accuracy with all tasks and pride in a job well done.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities at once.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Diligent and firm with high ethical standard.
- Quick learner, team player, and ready to take on any challenge.

Working conditions
Special working conditions may include: a change in days worked, shift hours, and/or working conditions (outdoors or other locations) when participating and assisting in special events such as: NYC Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk, golf outings, and other fundraising events, as required.
Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
