If so, we're seeking a dedicated and compassionate Intake Veterinary Technician to join our team. As an Intake Veterinary Technician, you will be instrumental in the initial assessment and care of animals admitted to our shelter.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- May assist TLHS veterinarian with procedures as directed.
- Monitor animals' wellness as well as keep the documentation current. Communicate with the veterinarian regarding any concerns or questions with treatments or medical procedures.
- Complete medical exams as required for the work area.
- Demonstrate ability to draw blood, use correct collection tubes, place and monitor an IV catheter, maintain a chart for each patient, and show proficient record keeping as required.
- Administer medication as directed by the veterinarian; administer injections via intramuscular, subcutaneous, or intravenous routes.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work area, according to procedures.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal skills with co-workers and clients. Assures adequate communication as required.
- Be proficient with completing basic diagnostics on patients using a microscope, and IDEXX Snap Reader.
- Utilize data management software (Shelterluv).
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Able to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist routinely with assistance.
- Clerical experience in an office setting is desired.
- Computer experience with email, Google Workspace, or Microsoft Office.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Good interpersonal skills for interacting with co-workers, the public, and the telephone.
- Must maintain a valid driver's license
- Must be willing to work with and handle animals.
- Must work well in stressful situations and handle a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions:
Indoors with animals, staff, and the public. Outdoors at times with animals. Exposed to sterile and cleaning chemicals, using provided PPE.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to move about in close proximity to others and equipment. Prolonged periods of standing and being on your feet. Must be able to bend and kneel.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour
