What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping and Receiving Specialist position at Tura Inc.?
Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor, the incumbent will complete tasks associated with the sending, accepting, and recording of the movement of stock, parts, supplies, materials and equipment to and from Tura Inc. In addition to tracking inventory and keeping records, they may also package items, inspect merchandise and complete other related duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Processing receiving paperwork and records applicable receipts in the receiving logbook.
- Inputting daily receipts into NAV/Insight.
- Creating bills of lading, commercial invoices and other shipping documents.
- Performing inventory management tasks such as inventory adjustments and movements.
- Tracking, updating and communicating the status of incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Preparing communications, such as memos, emails, invoices, daily/weekly/monthly reports and other correspondence.
- Communicating and collaborating:
o with coworkers to provide accurate, informed responses for various shipping/receiving/logistics/inventory inquiries
o with coworkers to resolve shipping/receiving/logistics/inventory errors or discrepancies
o with logistics companies involved in the shipment and receipt of products to and from Tura.
- Maintaining the tariff code, master sample, rep supply.
- Preparing instructional documents and recording changes to procedures within these documents.
- Creating and maintaining filing systems, both electronic and physical.
- Maintaining contact lists.
- Processing, collating and distributing mail.
- Completing duties assigned by supervisors, managers or leads as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft software, i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, Access.
- Ability to read fine print, pay attention to small details and create/maintain accurate records.
- Must have good organizational skills and be able to handle/prioritize a multiple task workload and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
- Must be proficient in basic math, i.e. addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
- Must have a good understanding of fundamental warehouse shipping and receiving procedures.
- Ability to maintain a safe, organized, and clean workspace.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Shipping and receiving experience is helpful but not required.
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) is helpful, but not required.
- Basic understanding of domestic and international shipping rules and regulations is helpful, but not required.
- Basic knowledge of the small package and freight carriers used by Tura, i.e. UPS, FedEx, DHL, TForce Freight (formerly UPS Freight), A. Duie Pyle, New Penn, etc.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs., climb ladders, walk to various locations in the warehouse and office areas, stand for several hours at a time.
Hours of Work: The hours of work are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Overtime as needed.
