Summary
As an APU R&O Engineer, you will be instrumental in the design, development, and troubleshooting of advanced power units. Effective communication and computer skills are essential as you work within a dynamic team to drive innovation and ensure operational excellence. Support all production efforts necessary to repair and overhaul Auxiliary Power Units and associated components to include:
- The means to repair and test details, components and engines in order to Return To
- Service within established turnaround time requirements.
- Ability to evaluate APU/Accessory test stand software; update as required.
- Analyzes data provided and makes work scope recommendations to Customers for repair of unserviceable assets. Resolves technical problems.
- Performs engine and accessory test, performance analysis and troubleshooting.
- Prepares detailed work instructions for operations personnel, outside of routine overhaul procedures.
- Provides written or verbal technical advice for customers; produces reports relating to product serviceability, repair summaries, warranty, and failure analysis or product configuration.
- Provides technical support during the implementation of new processes; specifies tools and test equipment required; assists in training on the overhaul and test methods.
- Repair and Overhaul Engineer familiar with Auxiliary Power Unit operation/maintainability.
- Able to effectively diagnose APU and component malfunctions in the field or at overhaul.
- Ability to troubleshoot/maintain component test stands/software to avoid production interruptions.
- Continuous evaluation of shop processes, tooling, routings, and procedures affecting production.
- Develop/support shop routings/drawings; provide technical training to ensure shop proficiency.
- Define/maintain/upgrade process documentation and qualification of in-house processes.
- Directly interacts with internal/external Customers/suppliers/OEM concerning engine issues.
- Initiate material/process non-conformances issues; implement plans to effective resolution.
- Must possess superior communication, writing and computer skills.
- Experience with National Instruments software & LabVIEW preferred.
- Background in control systems and electrical blueprints preferred.
Requirements
Required Education and Experience:
- Engineering degree and 5 years of APU assembly/analytical experience in an R&O environment.
- Experience with Honeywell APUs preferred.
- Three to five years experience in a support role for APU engine maintenance.
- Good understanding of manufacturing methods, shop equipment and machining processes.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints.
- Working knowledge of precision measuring instruments.
- Working knowledge of gas turbine engine and/or accessory theory and performance analysis.
- Valid FAA- A&P license preferred.
- LabVIEW experience & some electrical background preferred.
