Description
The Manual Machinist is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and operating machinery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Set up and operate machine tools (lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders) to perform precision machining operations on new and rework parts.
• Ability to read blueprints, calculate dimensions or tolerances using instruments such as micrometers or calipers.
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
• Ability to hold tolerances within .0001”.
• Ensure that all components are properly de-burred, cleaned, and free from foreign material.
• Responsible for the inspection of parts for conformance to requirements holding close tolerances and maximum efficiencies.
• Confer with supervisory or manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with Company’s procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
• Complete paperwork to maintain records, fill out inspection reports, and follow department standards.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of position-related education in a job/shop setting.
• Demonstrated ability to read and understand mechanical drawings required.
• Demonstrated understanding of basic math skills required.
• Ability to use a variety of hand tools, machine tools, and precision measuring instruments (i.e. micrometers, veneers, and calipers) as required.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) to interact with co-workers, managers, customers, and vendors.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment around large and noisy equipment.
• Valid Driver’s License.
