TURN Community Services was founded in 1973 by a group of parents who wanted better services for their adult children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We provide resources to more than 850 individuals with developmental disabilities. YOUR DAY AS A PROGRAM RESIDENT ASSISTANT
As a Program Resident Assistant, you are an important part of our team that helps keep everything running smoothly. Our clients live in their own apartments within the complex, and our team provides them with the support they need to live as independently as possible. You provide support for 7 men with varying developmental disabilities. All of the individuals supported in this program are high functioning and require little or no assistance with personal hygiene care. You will provide direct service for program individuals, training for staff, assisting with shopping, menu planning, medical and other appointments, client finances, and work with the Coordinator planning and executing in home and community activities.
You help the Coordinator plan and execute all aspects of running this program, including ensuring compliance with state and contract standards for programs and facilities. You will assist individuals in the program with social skills, medical needs, personal hygiene, social skills and self-care, behavior management, communication, safety, recreation and leisure, and various other skills to learn independence in their lives. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PROGRAM RESIDENT ASSISTANT
- 6 months of work experience with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities
- 18 years of age
- Personal reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, current motor vehicle insurance, and a clean driving record
- Proficiency in Therap
- Knowledge of general medical conditions
- Basic word processing and other computer skills
- Problem-solving, leadership, and teamwork experience
- Ability to produce and review typed business letters, reports, and accurate numerical records
- Effective personal stress management
- Ability to complete all requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation

YOUR WORK HOURS
The typical schedule for this position is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 1:00 pm-9:0pm, Sunday 12:00 pm-8:00 pm, and Sunday 10:00 am-6:00 pm. In addition, there is some flexibility needed depending on the needs of the program and may include day, swing, overnight, and weekend hours.
