Title: Senior Staff Accountant
Location: Bethesda, MD (2 days onsite, 3 days remote)
Schedule: 40 hours per week
Compensation: Up to $90,000 per year (plus bonus)
Our client, a well-established financial services firm, is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join their growing accounting department. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity with strong potential for advancement. The ideal candidate will have 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within the financial services industry (e.g., banking, lending), as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited four-year institution.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain complex journal entries (daily, monthly, adjusting, and recurring).
- Perform general ledger reconciliations and roll-forwards, including bank statements, fixed assets, AP, accruals, and prepaids.
- Post daily cash activity, record revenues, and manage loan receivable transactions with accuracy.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including financial statement preparation.
- Compile financial data for audits and tax filings.
- Oversee assigned daily accounting operations and resolve reconciliation discrepancies.
- Support internal controls and ensure GAAP compliance.
- Assist with user testing and documentation for system implementations.
- Perform additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in financial services or a start-up.
- Bachelor’s in Accounting required; strong GAAP knowledge.
- Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Proactive, solutions-focused, and able to work independently.
- Strong communicator with high emotional intelligence.
- Advanced Excel skills; ERP experience preferred (Microsoft Dynamics GP a plus).
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with a strong work ethic and flexibility.
