Turner Industries is looking for a Paralegal to join our team in the Baton Rouge, LA area. Assists with paralegal responsibilities for the Legal Department. Works independently with minimal supervision, conducts some legal research, performs administrative duties including creating and preparing routine materials, proofreading, verifying, and editing all materials for extreme accuracy and clarity. Utilizes advanced computer skills to prepare complex correspondence, reports, charts, tables, graphs, and forms. Works and does research with LEXIS, PACER, and other databases. Non-exempt role; Reports to the Assistant General Counsel; Develops procedures for performance of variety of duties / performs complex duties within established guidelines.
Essential Qualifications:
- Minimum five (5) years of experience or equivalent combinations of experience and training. Paralegal certificate preferred but not required depending on skills
- Excellent Knowledge of internet searches, business machines, printer-scanners, computers and/or menu driven applications. Will be required to have knowledge and excellent abilities with computer software such as Google Workspace
- Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Applicant/employee should be able to do some research on Lexis®, ECF and Pacer and should be able to file court pleadings and other documents with the various courts
- Applicant must work in office and be present in the office during business hours
- Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy
- Comply with company and client job site safety requirements
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace
Functional Requirements:
Prepare/Draft Responses to Discovery Requests and Subpoena; responds to and forwards garnishments, child custody orders, bankruptcies, and attachments; prepare Exhibits for Deposition and position statements; open File for New EEOC Charges filed and log New EEOC Charges filed on Excel spreadsheet; prepare/compose correspondence letters regarding legal matters; maintain litigation hold notices and CounselLink database; works on billing and invoices; co-custodian of records; perform administrative functions and some legal research including filing, copying, binding reports, data entry, testing, and checking documentation, on the credentials of employees and potential employees; may answer, screen and direct telephone calls and emails; may compile and prepare various reports and articles; may coordinate and process general administrative work; perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction

Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
