Job Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Bedbug K9 Tehcnician is to perform all services related to K9 inspections or other bedbug related inspections and treatments as needed to commercial and residential clients. Proper training and care for the K9 is also a primary duty of this position. Additional services may be required depending on work availability including but not limited to Universal Technician responsibilities.
Job Summary:
The ideal candidate will be immensely dependable, ethical, patient, and have a strong desire to succeed. The handler and dog must be a cohesive team working in tandem to utilize canine scent detection to detect Bed Bug activity in a variety of facilities to include (but not limited to): hotels, resorts, health care facilities, and single and multi-family residences. The animals assigned to the handlers are property of the company (we do not train your dog or allow you to use a non-company owned canine for this role). Each handler, however, will be expected to house the canines at their place of residence. This is a very specialized program within our company and requires great commitment.
Any expenses directly related to the working canine such as food and veterinarian care are covered by the company.
Duties include:
- Utilizing an assigned Bed Bug Detection Canine to inspect rooms and facilities for Bed Bug activity
- Document positive or negative findings of Bed Bug activity in a detailed and concise manner
- Establish effective working relationships with a variety of customers, both internal and external
- Use of handheld computerized equipment to manage service calls and documents
- Provide customers with general information about our various services
- Conduct service calls as needed
- Problem solving and/or complaint resolution
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Ability to house and provide proper living conditions for canine partner
- Ability to ensure proper veterinarian care is maintained for canine partner
- Ability to ensure food is obtained for canine partner
- Ability to provide continual training to ensure canine does not provide false alerts
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting positive and negative findings of Bed Bug activity
- Ability to safely drive a company vehicle, with some travel through-out the state likely
- Able to withstand long periods of standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, squatting
- Be able to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs
- Be competent with the use of new technology
- Be organized and able to manage their own daily route
- Strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to partner with customers in implementing solutions
- Must be flexible with the daily schedule
To be qualified:
- At least 21 years of age
- Have a valid driver's license with minimal moving violations
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
