Job Description
Turner & Townsend are seeking an experienced Director of Estimating to lead and develop a team of Estimators and the delivery of estimating services for a large-scale manufacturing construction project. This individual will be responsible for ensuring service excellence in terms of service delivery, continued growth in our estimating service offering and including client engagement.
The successful candidate will be a driven leader with great interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the estimating services for key clients, providing strategic direction and oversight.
- Develop and implement best practice estimating processes and methodologies, incorporating industry-specific best practices and leveraging innovative techniques for improved efficiency.
- Oversee the preparation of detailed cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop comprehensive cost management plans.
- Conduct cost risk analysis and provide input into value engineering; negotiate and approve final accounts.
- Provide estimating advice, guidance, and analysis to project stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Build business capability by anticipating future challenges and opportunities for clients and implementing new estimating services that align with industry standards.
- Create business opportunities through business development, key client development, and opportunity tracking within the region.
- Lead the effort to win new work by leading bids for estimating scopes of work, presenting to potential clients, and sharing best practices to foster a learning environment.
- Mentor and coach estimators, fostering their professional development and promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Provide reporting on key performance indicators to assess the performance of the organization and the team against a set of metrics determined by industry standards.
- SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering or field related to construction.
- Graduate degree in quantity surveying, cost management, construction management, or engineering is preferred.
- 12 years of relevant estimating or preconstruction experience.
- 2 years managing high performing estimating/preconstruction teams in a consulting environment.
- Prior people management experience.
- Proven track record of managing successful estimating service delivery for clients.
- Exceptional Business development acumen and ambition to drive business growth.
- Major construction sector experience working with high caliber clients in; commercial real estate, data center, life sciences, industrial manufacturing, natural resources, etc.
- Demonstrates excellent presentation, verbal, written, organizational and communication skills.
