What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraprofessional - Day Treatment Floater position at Turning Point Family Services?
Turning Point Family Services is looking for a paraprofessional to serve as a floater between our three-day treatments. We have two-day treatments located in Cabarrus county school system and one in Charlotte in KIPP Academy. We are looking for applicants who enjoy working with children with behaviors that are intense where they cannot be in a normal classroom. We are also looking for candidates that can work within a team and enjoy being challenges. This day treatments serve elementary to middle school age children. This position is an hourly position that will follow the school schedule. This position will also require being certified in CPI. Turning Point offers full benefit and is full-time. Summary:
Provide therapeutic behavior management and skill building services to clients in the Day Treatment program. The focus will be on assisting sites with coverage and support for ratio or crisis. Assist with classroom management and positive behavior management techniques. Work with school personnel, program staff and other professionals in facilitating the implementation of client treatment plans. Maintain the confidentiality of client and program information. The program director will direct floater on which site to report to. Will have the ability to cover three sites and will report to whichever site is needing support. The three sites include Furr Elementary, Griffin Point, KIPP Elementary.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma
Experience: Working in mental health with youth
Travel: Travel between three day treatment sites
Valid Drivers license
Responsibilities:
Be present in the school with clients during school hours. Under direction of the assigned site manager for the day, floater will provide crisis intervention as needed and behavior modification techniques to day treatment clients. The focus is on assisting with classroom management and fostering positive behaviors in the classroom. Crisis Response support which starts during school hours may occasionally continue after school hours. The program director will inform Floater which site to report to.
Complete required documentation in a timely fashion.
Provide CPI compliant restraints as a last resort if client is a danger to others or self and least restrictive interventions have been exhausted.
You are required to consistently follow the conduct policies and daily operating procedures of your assigned school. Manage behaviors and maintain client interactions in accordance with program procedures.
