Location: TurningPoint headquarters in Rockville, MD with hybrid option.
What You’ll Do
As an Application Support Engineer, you will be part of a team responsible for:
- Collaborating with Product Management team to develop, maintain, and support a large enterprise resource planning (ERP) application.
- Working closely with the product engineering team, and product delivery teams to provide seamless production support.
-Troubleshooting and resolving application issues, identifying root causes, and deploying quick solutions.
- Delivering innovative enhancements to improve application performance, security, and maintainability.
- Implementing security measures through regular vulnerability assessments and risk management.
- Setting up and maintaining continuous integration (CI), continuous deployment (CD), and continuous monitoring pipelines.
- Preparing and submitting deployment packages, including application builds and all associated documentation.
- Supporting application deployments in both on-premises and AWS cloud environments.
- Implementing AWS infrastructure as code (IaC) and optimizing cloud costs.
- Developing standard operating procedures and running books for streamlined operations.
- Ensuring compliance with security benchmarks, including CIS and DISA STIGs.
- Assisting in achieving compliance with federal IT standards, including FISMA and FedRAMP.
- Performing vulnerability and compliance scans, analyzing results, and ensuring adherence to cloud governance models.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive and excel in this role, candidate is expected to have:
Required Skills:
- 4 years of experience with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related engineering field.
- Experience providing production and deployment support for a web-based Enterprise Java application with excellent debugging abilities.
- Demonstrated experience in software development using Java, JSP, SQL, XML, JavaScript, JQuery, Spring, Hibernate, and ETL technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle, Postgres, and MySQL databases in writing DDL/DML scripts, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and ability to ingest and analyze large data sets.
- Experience with Jenkins Automated Build Tools and Static Code Analysis Tools (e.g. OWASP Zap, dependency-check, FinsBugs, PMD, and SonarQube).
- Maintenance and operation experience with WildFly or JBoss Application server.
- Strong Unix/Linux experience (Shell Scripts, Advance Unix Commands, Monitoring tools)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Willing to work evening, weekend, and/or night shift as part of production support team.
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Level Security Clearance.
- Oracle Certified Java Programmer certification.
- Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
- Experience working on AWS cloud services (AWS certification is a plus!).
- Knowledge of FISMA, FedRAMP compliance, and NIST 800-53 security controls.
- Experience integrating SAML-based Single Sign-On with Active Directory.
- Experience with GSA telecom contracts, telecom carrier web portals, and carrier service ordering.
- Familiarity with Data Analytics, AI/ML models and Blockchain technologies.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $78,000 to $108,000. This range is a general guideline only as compensation decisions are based on relevant experience and educational qualifications.
