Position: Outreach and Prevention Advocate
Location: Woodstock, IL (In-person)
Pay: $19-$21
This position is a full time (35 hours) with benefits.

About Us:
Turning Point, Inc. is a nonprofit domestic violence agency providing comprehensive services to the community. We are seeking an Outreach and Prevention Advocate to enhance our team.
Job Summary:
The Outreach and Prevention Advocate plays a crucial role in fostering community outreach, school prevention, and professional training initiatives for Turning Point Services. This position is pivotal in connecting the community and clients with essential resources and prevention knowledge. Reporting directly to the Director of Outreach and Community Engagement.
Responsibilities:
· Implement and promote anti-violence education programs in school settings, catering to students from Pre-K through High School and local colleges.
· Deliver presentations on domestic violence, dating violence, Erin’s Law, conflict resolution, bullying, digital safety, and other relevant subjects to students in area schools.
· Cultivate strong relationships with area schools, regularly meeting with school personnel to identify topics and address the specific needs of classrooms and school community members.
· Answer questions in person and from student-completed surveys on presentation topics in a trauma-informed and harm-reduction approach.
· Assist in coordinating community speaking engagements, tabling events, and resource fairs related to Turning Point services and anti-violence education.
· Engage with area teen centers, libraries, and other community centers to organize educational and community events.
· Contribute to reviewing, developing, and expanding anti-violence education programming to meet community needs.
· Advocate, promote, and network on behalf of Turning Point to raise awareness of services.
· Address students who may experience reactions to the presentation and require crisis-related support after a presentation.
· Act as a resource for school personnel to reach out to when needed support for students related to domestic violence or other anti-violence-related situations.
· Stay informed about trends, statistics, and research in domestic violence, applying this knowledge to community presentations, training, and prevention efforts.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree required in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Public Health, or a related field
· Experience working with youth and teens
· Preferred experience in the domestic violence and/or mental health field
· Proficiency in public speaking
· Technology experience preferred
· Must possess reliable transportation, proof of insurance, and a valid driver’s license
· Flexible availability for presentations, events, and occasional nights and weekends
· Fluency in both spoken and written Spanish and English preferred
