What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substance Abuse Counselor position at Turning Point Recovery Center?
The Substance Abuse/Mental Health Therapist will be a member of the clinical team. Under the leadership of the Program Director or Clinical Supervisor, the therapist will provide substance abuse counseling to clients in individual, couple, family, and group sessions. Therapists are responsible for developing & implementing treatment plans for clients. They also need to complete all necessary and required documentation in a thorough and timely manner.
Confidentiality and Ethics are of the utmost importance to the Counseling Services Department. Therapists are required to hold at least their CADC.
Responsibilities
- Attend all mandatory meetings and trainings established by licensing, accreditation agencies, and funding sources
- Responsible for facilitating groups, working with clients in individual, family and couple sessions
- Responsible for assessing, creating, and implementing treatment plans with clients for person centered treatment
- Responsible to the Program Director/Clinical Supervisor
- Maintain all records and reports in compliance with pertinent licensing and accrediting standards
- Assist in providing materials/information to contribute to ongoing developing needs of the curriculums provided by the clinical team
- Assist in yearly professional evaluation
- Attend group and/or clinical supervision as assigned by the Program Director
- Keep up documentation in a timely and accurate manner as required by all contractual obligations
- Develop and facilitate reviews of client’s progress and ongoing treatment updates to prepare for discharge and/or transfer of services or termination
- Maintain and attend continued professional skills development
- Promote Turning Point Recovery Center's philosophy through personal and professional ethics in attitude, actions, and behavior
- Perform other duties as assigned by the clinical supervisor
Qualifications
- Must possess the CADC credentials with MCBAP
- Must have working knowledge and experience with region electronic medical record systems.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrate ability to work with individuals from multi-cultural backgrounds
- Must demonstrate the skills, knowledge, and experience deemed appropriate for clinical privilege to work in substance abuse and mental health within the agency, and obtain continuing education hours as required by certification/licensing agencies
- Experience and knowledge of facilitating groups and working with families
- Must be able to work independently, be adaptable to the needs of the Treatment Center, and demonstrate initiative to develop creative programming
- Must demonstrate a positive attitude, and be an excellent team player
- Possess knowledge of admissions, authorizations, assessments and individual treatment plan through electronic entries
