What are the responsibilities and job description for the Restaurant Cost Analyst position at Turning Point Restaurants?
We are looking for a detail-oriented Cost Analyst with excellent IT skills to oversee and enhance food and beverage costs throughout our operations. The perfect candidate will possess experience in cost control, inventory management, and financial reporting, along with proficiency in Excel and restaurant accounting software. This position is vital for ensuring cost efficiency, minimizing waste, and boosting profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Control & Analysis:
- Analyze and maintain accurate menu costing, including ingredient pricing and portioning.
- Conduct Actual vs Theoretical (AVT) variance analysis to identify discrepancies between actual and theoretical costs.
- Collaborate with operations teams to improve cost efficiencies.
- Monitor cost trends and provide recommendations to enhance profitability.
- Ensure accurate data entry and reporting in restaurant accounting systems (e.g., R365).
Inventory & Procurement Management:
- Oversee inventory counts, reconcile to general ledger & ensure accurate reporting.
- Implement and maintain inventory control systems, tracking stock movements and minimizing discrepancies.
- Work closely with purchasing and kitchen teams to standardize recipes and portion controls.
- Monitor daily inventory for high-cost limited time offerings (LTO) such as lobster tails.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Generate detailed cost reports, including food cost percentage, variance analysis, and profitability insights.
- Track and analyze sales mix, menu pricing, and gross profit margins.
- Provide management with accurate and timely cost reports for strategic decision-making.
Systems & IT Management:
- Maintain and improve cost control and inventory management software.
- Integrate and optimize data across Aloha POS & Restaurant365 (restaurant management software)
- Automate reporting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Multi-Unit restaurant operations.
- Excel proficiency (pivot tables, data analysis).
- Background in data analytics or business intelligence tools.
- Familiarity with Aloha POS and Restaurant365 Restaurant Management Software
