Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Specialist to join our ABA therapy team. The ideal candidate will manage billing processes specific to ABA services, ensuring accurate insurance claims, coding, and maintenance of patient records. This role requires a strong understanding of medical and behavioral health billing, coding systems, and the ability to navigate complex insurance and reimbursement scenarios effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and manage billing for ABA therapy services, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Assign correct codes for diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 and CPT codes specific to ABA.
- Review therapy session records for completeness and accuracy before submitting claims.
- Handle collections, follow up on outstanding accounts, and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
- Collaborate with therapists, providers, and insurance companies to clarify and resolve billing or coding issues.
- Stay updated on insurance guidelines, including Medicaid and private insurance policies, related to ABA services.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare laws, regulations, and company policies regarding billing practices.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) and practice management systems to track billing activities and maintain organized records.
- Track payment status weekly and update reports to ensure accurate reconciliation of payments and claims.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding, preferably in behavioral health or ABA services.
- Familiarity with insurance claims processes, including Medicaid and private insurance.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10 codes, CPT codes for ABA services, and medical/behavioral health terminology.
- Experience working with EHR and billing software is highly desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
