Job Opportunity

Educational Therapist / Specialist—IN PERSON

Turning Points Educational Solutions (a private practice clinic in downtown Willow Glen in San Jose, CA) is seeking to hire additional Educational Therapists / Specialists to meet the demand for services. This is a position that involves one-to-one and small-group instruction with clients who have learning differences or who are in need of executive functioning coaching / learning support. The position would begin as part-time with the potential to increase to full-time, if desired.

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer actively seeking to build an inclusive and diverse workplace that reflects and serves our diverse Bay Area community. We strongly encourage applications from people of color, both men and women, foreign language speakers, and the LGBTQIA community.

Turning Points provides a variety of services, including; assessment (comprehensive psychoeducational, autism, school neuropsychological evaluations, IEEs, and IQ / gifted testing), Educational Therapy / specialized instruction, executive functioning coaching, and Spanish tutoring. We identify and address the underlying reasons for learning and performance difficulties with the goal of helping individuals navigate their own personal path to success. We often collaborate with public and private schools as well; thus, a background in working in / with schools is very helpful. Training in programs, like; Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, Slingerland, Structured Word Inquiry, Barton, Visualizing & Verbalizing, Making Math Real, and Math U See in addition to executive functioning and social cognitive interventions is required. The ideal candidate would be able to address math through the high school / college level, reading and writing at all levels, and executive functioning skills at all levels. Afternoon / evening and possibly weekend availability is needed during the school year with more flexibility during the summertime.

Bilingual language skills are also a plus. The candidate should be able to independently create and execute lesson plans designed specifically to capitalize on strengths and address areas of need. The candidate should also be able to understand and use psycho-educational / school neuropsychological reports and the recommendations within those reports to develop instructional plans with research-based interventions.

Turning Points offers the benefits of being in private practice, with the support and collegiality of a multi-disciplinary clinic. Educational Therapists / Specialists choose their caseload and hours, but the clinic provides all marketing, intake, scheduling, and billing services.

Compensation :

Depending on training and experience, the starting rate is between $70-100 / hour. You will need your own computer / device but Turning Points provides all other materials, equipment and supplies, along with ongoing opportunities for training and consultation. Current benefits include sick time for all employees; and a 401k, health / dental / vision insurance as well as paid vacation and holiday time for full-time employees.

Schedule :

The position begins part-time, but could grow to full-time, if desired, as long as you have availability during days / hours of client demand. While the number of weekly hours and schedule are flexible, most of our clients desire after-school and / or weekend hours with more daytime availability in the summertime.
