Why does the job exist?
Nurse technicians work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide nursing, patient supervision, strategic observation during medication times and personal care to individuals with substance misuse and co-occurring mental health issues.
How does it get done?
This position is responsible for providing patient care duties under direct supervision of nursing staff. This includes performing vital signs, breathalyzers, urine drug screens, EKGs, patient searches, patient rounding, patient transportation, charting within an electronic medical record system, stocking the unit with supplies, filing documents, cleaning medical equipment, facilitating telehealth visits, and movement within the hospital to meals and/or group activities.
Who are the customers?
Adult patients with chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders.

Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma and two (2) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties of the classification.

Must possess a valid New Mexico Driver's license. Must submit to pre-employment and random drug screenings.
Working Conditions
Executive Order 2021-066 requires all employees with the State of New Mexico to provide either proof of COVID-19 vaccination (including proof of a booster dose of vaccine by January 17, 2022, or within four weeks of becoming eligible for a booster dose) or proof of a COVID-19 viral test every week.
The Public Health Order (on Vaccination) dated December 2, 2021, requires Congregate Care Facility Workers and Hospital Workers to have received a primary series of vaccination by October 6, 2021, and a booster dose of vaccine by January 17, 2022, or within four weeks of becoming eligible for a booster.
