We are looking for a talented Senior VFX Artist to join our team. The job will require working closely with designers, engineers, and other artists to create FX for awesome games. The ideal candidate would be able to thrive in a collaborative environment while bringing their perspectives and strengths to the team. If you love VFX and being able to create glitz, flash, explosions, and sizzle, this is the position for you! This role reports to the Lead VFX Artist.

Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality real-time visual effects that enhance environments, characters, and combat; ensuring they react appropriately to in-game events and player interactions
  • Take full ownership of VFX features, from concept to final implementation, ensuring alignment with the overall artistic vision.
  • Work alongside the VFX Lead and art team to ensure that visual effects align with the overall artistic vision and technical requirements of the game
  • Work with designers, engineers, and other artists to create immersive, captivating, gameplay-oriented player experiences
  • Collaborate across disciplines to ensure that assets are built intelligently to optimize performance, balance fidelity, maintain best practices, and consistent art style
  • Actively mentor junior artists, fostering their growth and helping them develop their technical and artistic skills
  • Autonomously manage priorities and schedule, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality VFX while balancing creative ambition and technical constraints
  • Playtest with both the studio and the VFX team to review and iterate on VFX

Requirements

  • 5 years experience as a VFX artist in game development
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in creating realistic real-time effects
  • Advanced proficiency in UE5 including Niagara and Blueprints
  • Advanced experience with relevant software packages such as Photoshop, Embergen, Houdini, Substance, and / or Maya
  • Strong artistic and technical problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of artistic principles including lighting, composition, color theory, and animation principles
  • Expertise working with shaders and materials
  • Advanced understanding of real-time VFX performance and optimization best practices
  • Self-driven autonomy, excellent communication skills, and a positive attitude
  • Preferences

  • Shipped one or more major titles on current generation / PC platforms as a VFX artist
  • Experience with AAA First Person action titles
  • Familiarity with asset tracking and issue tracking tools such as Perforce and JIRA

  • The estimated base pay range for this role is :

    105,000$150,000 USD
