Human Resources Generalist
Job goal
To plan, organize, educate, and assist with employee benefits, relations, induction, policy implementation, and recruitment/employment/certification.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
2. A minimum of (5) years human resources experience required.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities
1. Knowledge of human resources and employee laws, policies and regulations
2. Knowledge of current Alabama teacher certification codes.
3. Knowledge of Nextgen software system to process payroll and benefits
4. Knowledge and understanding of SearchSoft Applicant Tracking System/People Administration.
5. Skills in problem solving.
6. Ability to speak and write clearly and correctly.
7. Knowledge of Board policies and procedures.
8. Ability to be effective and efficient with Microsoft Office Programs such as Word,
Excel, Publisher and Access.
9. Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently via E-mail.
10. Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in a fast-paced, high intensive work environment.
Essential functions
1. Assists the Benefits Supervisor with employee benefits program.
2. Develops vendor onboarding policies and procedures.
3. Plans, coordinates, and implements Employee Benefits Fair.
4. Conducts employee benefits orientation sessions to inform new employees of the insurance and related benefits, including explain plan options, coverage and costs.
5. Assists with the administration of the sick leave bank for professional and support employees.
6. Manages and implements district wellness program and activities designed to improve employee health and wellness.
7. Assists with recruiting events and the interview process as requested.
8. Serves as teacher certification officer.
9. Coordinates all aspects of professional certification including communication, recordkeeping and data collection.
10. Determines the certification status of candidates recommended for employment.
11. Coordinates the certificate renewal process for all applicable certified employees.
12. Coordinates the ABI/FBI fingerprint/background check of all new classified employees.
13. Reviews LEAPS schedule report to ensure teachers are properly assigned.
14. Creates and revises Human Resources handbooks as requested.
15. Assists in the setup of electronic workflow and onboarding process.
16. Conducts newhire workshops.
17. Interprets transcripts, references, and employment regulations for the purpose of ensuring proper placement on the classified salary schedule.
18. Coordinates employment process (e.g. processing employment applications, inputting classified employee data into NextGen, analyzing transcripts, employment history and references).
19. Coordinates all processes related to the fingerprint/background checks for newly hired classified personnel ensuring that each employee has completed the process within five (5) working days of the first day of employment.
20. Adheres to federal, state, local and board rules and regulations.
21. Takes leave time in accordance with Board policy and reports all absences to the district’s absence management system in a timely manner.
22. Reports to work on time and regularly as designated by work schedule.
23. Assumes other reasonable and equitable job-related duties as assigned.
Terms of employment
The terms of employment shall be in accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy Manual, Students First Act, and the Board’s Salary Schedule – Central Office Administrative Support.
Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel
