Security Monitor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others and operate efficiently under critical conditions.

SUPERVISES:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to plan and organize effectively.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of the law as pertaining to schools.
- Knowledge of state and local policies and procedures.
- Ability to manage fiscal resources.
- Physical mobility, dexterity, strength and visual acuity to meet student needs, deal with student problems and assist with building maintenance problems and school ground monitoring activities.
JOB GOAL:
To assist school personnel in maintaining an environment conducive to teaching and learning.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Patrols and monitors all areas of the school facilities on a consistent basis.
- Provides assistance to the principal in all matters related to school safety including but not limited to supervising the loading and unloading of the buses, monitoring the lunchroom, monitoring the parking lots during the day, before and after school, and working with extracurricular activities.
- When necessary, uses reasonable physical restraint techniques to prevent disturbances and school disruptions.
- Keeps the principals and other school officials informed of all matters that may present disruptive activities that interfere with the teaching/learning process.
- Works with the principal or his/her designee in coordinating the security efforts during athletic events and other after-school activities.
- Assists the principal and other school officials in working with adjudicated and troubled students.
- Assists the principal and other school officials in working with community agencies such as the Interagency Council on Youth.
- Assists the principal and other school officials by insuring that all school personnel are provided the opportunity to work in a safe school environment during the school day as well as during after-school activities.
- Assists the principal and other school officials by insuring that all parents and students are provided the opportunity to participate in a school environment that is free of disruptive activities.
- Assists all visitors in matters related to the process for school visitation.
- Performs other necessary duties as required by the principal to insure a safe and meaningful teaching and learning environment.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions for Evaluation of Personnel.
