Position Introduction
The Medical Clinic Service Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Tuscarawas County Health Department clinic staff, program, and clients. The service coordinator is expected to exercise sound professional and strategic judgement in meeting the needs of divisions and the public. The service coordinator is responsible for supporting Bureau staff. The service coordinator is responsible for maintaining open and appropriate communication between and among agency personnel, directors, and the public.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Knowledgeable in medical terminology and medical billing practices; Prior experience in a medical office setting preferred
- Must have a valid State of Ohio driver’s license and remain insurable in accordance with the agency’s insurance policy
- Must sign and abide by the agency’s nicotine-free hiring policy
- Must successfully complete drug screen and background check

Essential Duties
- Meets and greets patients within clinic setting
- Ensure that reception area is kept in neat and orderly condition
- Directs patients to appropriate area of clinic
- Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality
- Register patients according to established protocol
- Records patient demographic information in the electronic medical records system
- Ensures patient medical insurance is inputted into electronic medical records system
- Collects patient co-pays and payments
- Evaluates daily schedules to accommodate patient flow and minimize missed appointments
- Performs various administrative duties for the clinic including preparing reports, composing correspondence, answering phone calls, etc.
- Assists with clinic desk duties that include but are not limited to scheduling client appointments, collecting client payments/issuing receipts
- Monitors medical billing activities, identifies billing issues, recommends possible solutions to claim denials
- Answers questions from patients regarding medical billing issues
- Acts as a Department liaison with the Department’s medical billing company
- Assists with tracking and reconciliation of patient accounts
- Assist in laboratory services including the processing of specimens and documentation of laboratory results
- Maintains and increases knowledge and skills through attendance at meetings, conferences, training seminars and in-service training
- Attends staff meetings and serves on temporary committees, as requested and is required to be punctual at such meetings.

Work Schedule: Monday 8am-4pm, Tuesday 8am-6pm, Wednesday 8am-4pm, Thursday 8am-5pm
