Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Psychologist to join our Administrative team.

POSITION: School Psychologist

DEPARTMENT: Administration

PURPOSE: Evaluate, re-evaluate, prescribe, counsel and perform reasonably related functions in order to meet the needs of regular education students and those children who may need specially designed instruction.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certifications as a Public School Psychologist by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and/or the Training Institution.
  • Any such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Directors deems appropriate.

REPORTS TO: District Superintendent

SUPERVISION: As Assigned

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board of Directors policies governing professional employees.

COMPENSATION: Contract: 260 Days; Salary, work schedule and other conditions of employment in accordance with Tuscarora District Act 93 Agreement and Board of Directors policies governing professional employees.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Functions as a member of an educational team which may consist of, but not limited to, the following: principals, program supervisors, instructional advisors, teachers, district representatives, district and school Multi-Tiered System of Support Teams.
  • Performs psychological, educational and instructional/evaluations or re-evaluations as formally requested by the principals, program supervisors, instructional advisors and appropriate designated district personnel (via Form SE-407). When necessary, these evaluations/re-evaluations will be implemented through formal testing procedures as related to possible changes in the educational placement of students. Informal assessments may include Curriculum-Based Assessment, classroom observations, teacher conferences, parent conferences, etc.
  • Reports his/her absenteeism to the district office secretary, as well as appropriate district personnel.
  • Cancels appointments, effected by any given absences.
  • Conducts in-service presentations in specific areas related to his/her own qualifications and individual competencies, upon request of the principals, program supervisors and appropriate designated district personnel.
  • Identifies the education needs of regular and/or exceptional students as well as the intellectual, social and emotional capabilities in order to meet the specific needs of regular and special education students.
  • Serves as a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team concerning recommendations for classroom strategies, educational and effective placement and programming.
  • Participates in conferences with parents, school and agency staff.
  • Conducts counseling of students on a group or individual basis upon request of principals and program supervisors.
  • Supervises and evaluates special education secretaries.
  • Assumes any other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.

  • Moderate lifting from 15 to 30 pounds
  • Some carrying - up to 30 pounds

  • Repetitive movement of fingers and hands for keyboarding

  • Visual acuity to read correspondence, computer screen
  • Auditory acuity to be able to use telephone, interview job candidates, conduct staff meetings
  • Ability to speak clearly and distinctly

Work Environment

  • General, office setting year-round.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Frequent short and long periods of standing and walking are typical.

  • Must be courteous and able to effectively manage people
  • Must be cooperative, congenial and service-oriented, and promote these qualities in the department.
  • Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions

Note: All abilities above must be at a professional management level, as expected from the required educational level of the job (i.e., Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Above) and the previous experience required.

  • Position holder has relatively unrestricted access to information for the Tuscarora School District and knowledge of management/operational activities

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Employee must attain an Act 34 Criminal History Background Check, Act 151 Child Abuse History Clearance and Federal Criminal History Record every 60 months. Must satisfy Mandated Reporter Training and Act 168 requirements. Must obtain a physical examination and possess a valid driver's license. In other respects, the successful candidate must be eligible for employment according to the provisions contained in Section 1209 of the Public School Code of 1949, as amended.
