We are currently seeking: Environmental Health, Safety and Training Manager
The Environmental Health, Safety and Training Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all safety, health, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies and industry best practice. This role ensures a safe work environment by promoting a culture of safety as a core value not just a priority, conducting training, performing inspections, and leading incident investigations
Responsibilities
- Inspects the facility or construction project site to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
- Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections and training.
- Ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, state, and local regulations.
- Maintains and updates company safety policies and procedures to align with industry best practices.
- Monitors compliance with safety procedures.
- Conducts regular job site inspections and audits to ensure adherence to safety standards.
- Maintains and submits OSHA logs, including OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 forms, in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Reports work-related injuries, illnesses, and fatalities to OSHA within required timeframes.
- Ensures timely communication of OSHA updates and changes to company policies.
- Coordinates and supports OSHA inspections, ensuring compliance and appropriate documentation.
- Tracks and analyzes safety data to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
- Lead investigations of workplace accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents.
- Develop corrective and preventive action plans to mitigate future risks.
- Maintain detailed records and reports of incidents, safety violations, and corrective measures.
- Develop health and safety procedures and required training for all areas of the company.
- Develops and delivers safety training programs to cover OSHA certifications, First Aid/CPR, hazard communication equipment operation emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
- Develop and maintain a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) program for all work activities.
- Implement a Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) program to drive proactive safety engagement.
- Create a contractor and subcontractor safety program to ensure all third-party workers comply with the company’s safety policies.
- Implement specialized training for operators of heavy equipment, aerial lifts, and confined spaces.
- Conducts New Hire Safety Orientation focusing on safety policies, hazard awareness, and emergency procedures.
- Provides ongoing safety education to employees and subcontractors.
- Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings.
- Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
- Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.
- Fosters a culture of safety through employee involvement, leadership engagement, and recognition programs.
- Coordinate with Leadership and other managers to identify needed training programs in all areas of the company.
- Coordinate with Leadership and other managers to develop training programs in addition to EHS training programs. Hold team members assigned to these additional training programs accountable for implementation of programs and training.
- Represent Tusco in industry safety forums or client negotiations.
- Serve as Tusco’s safety liaison with regulators, insurers, and industry groups.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- OSHA 30 or OSHA 500 certification required; CSP, CHST, or other safety certifications preferred.
- Five years of related experience required
- Extensive knowledge of environmental and safety regulations and policies including OSHA, EPA, DOT.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent leadership skills.
- Proficiency in safety reporting and documentation.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
