POSITION TITLE: Research Attorney
SALARY: Contractual Position/Remote Work Available

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides legal research support to the judges of the Tuscola County Courts with primary responsibilities in the 54th Circuit Court.
Duties include: Researching legal issues and questions using case law, statutes, automated research systems and programs and other legal research sources. Drafting legal memoranda and opinions for review by the judges. Preparing final opinions, orders and judgments at the direction of the judges. Reviewing legal resources such as case reports, law reviews, court rules and other legal periodicals and subscription services to ensure that they are current. Assist in other areas as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school. Licensed to practice in the State of Michigan preferred; will consider candidates waiting to take the bar exam.
Experience: Minimum of two years of experience in a legal research environment. Proficient in the use of automated legal research programs and systems. Candidates must be able to demonstrate excellent research and writing skills.
