Job Overview:
We are seeking a friendly and welcoming Host/Hostess to join our team. As the first point of contact for guests, you will play a key role in setting the tone for their dining experience. Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and welcome guests with a friendly and positive attitude as they arrive at the restaurant.
- Manage the waitlist and assign guests to tables based on availability, guest preferences, and server assignments.
- Escort guests to their tables and ensure they are comfortable and have everything they need.
- Answer phone calls and assist with reservations, guest inquiries, and special requests.
- Ensure the dining area is organized and presentable, maintaining cleanliness and readiness for incoming guests.
- Monitor the flow of guests and communicate with the waitstaff and management to ensure timely seating and service.
- Handle guest complaints or concerns with patience and professionalism, escalating to management when necessary.
- Provide guests with accurate wait times and ensure effective communication during peak times.
- Assist in setting up and breaking down the host station and dining area.
- Maintain a welcoming, clean, and organized entrance and waiting area.
- Provide support to the FOH team with tasks such as refilling water glasses, assisting with seating arrangements, and delivering menus.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in a restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a friendly and positive attitude.
- Ability to handle guest inquiries and complaints in a calm, professional manner.
- Ability to stand for long periods and move quickly when necessary.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with reservation systems or phone management.
- Familiarity with restaurant seating software or host/hostess duties.
- Previous experience in a high-volume restaurant or similar hospitality environment.
Working Conditions:
- High-energy, fast-paced work environment.
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 10 pounds
