What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fiscal Officer position at Tuskegee-Macon County Head Start/Early Head Start?
Tuskegee-Macon County Head Start/Early Head Start is seeking an experienced Fiscal Officer to work at our central office located in downtown Tuskegee. They will be a key contributor to our leadership team.

ROLE SUMMARY: This position is responsible for directing the analysis of financial information and preparation of financial reports to determine or maintain records of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and other financial activities within the agency. The Fiscal Officer is responsible for the management of all aspects of financial operations
of Tuskegee Macon County Head Start/Early Head Start.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting with a background in government accounting
- Must have (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in fund accounting, preferably in an agency setting OR have other appropriate combination of education and experience.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance and be insurable under TMC HS/EHS policies.
- Must meet criteria for background screening as required for childcare licensing and other federal, state and local regulations.
PREFERRED:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- Previously worked for a Head Start Agency.
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as set forth by Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
- Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, and funding agency guidelines.
- Proficient with technology and accounting software.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, and Excel.
- Ability to navigate laws, regulations, policy guidelines and other complex material.
- Experience with preparing correspondence, proposals, policies, reports, etc.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
- Resourceful and determined to accomplish goals.
- Ability to effectively present reports and train individuals on financial information.
