Job Summary
This position seeks a highly qualified candidate for Family, Home, and Consumer Science Community/Development Agent. The County Agent will oversee all the duties of providing direct assistance to County Agents in all of the counties within the specified service area of TUCEP for programming in Family and Consumer Sciences, Youth Development, Community Development, and Nutrition and Wellness.
Essential Job Duties
- Develop and prepare plans of work based on Tuskegee University Cooperative Extension
- Program Plan of Work Nutrition, Food Science/Safety, Health, Human Development, Youth Development, Financial Management, Community and Economic Development or related area.
- Prepare timely staff reports as required.
- Evaluate educational activities and program results as appropriate.
- Establish and maintain a local Extension Advisory Council.
- Participate in appropriate professional organizations.
- Participate in in-service training, formal course work, and short courses.
- Publicize on-going educational and public relations programs to inform organizations, agencies, and the public of programs and activities.
- Provide leadership directly to clientele by contacts, other agents, faculty, and agencies.
- Work closely with Agriculture and Natural Resource Agent to build comprehensive programming in assigned counties.
- Meet the Community needs relate to diverse audiences.
- Develops and conducts relevant interdisciplinary programs with CAENS faculty and staff members based on critical issues conducts promotional efforts to expand public knowledge of extension programs.
- Utilizes current TU research data and information on emerging issues in community development and teaching and demonstrates personal interest and involvement in the community by participating in and supporting civic/ community activities organizations and networking with community leaders.
- Serve on Tuskegee University Cooperative Extension Program Committee for ExERT, BTW Summit, TAPS, and Farmers Conference.
- Other duties as assigned by the Extension Administrator, Assistant Administrators, and/or the District Agent
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
- Bachelor of Science degree in Family Consumer Science degree nutrition or a closely related field is required.
- Master of Science degree in Family and Consumer Sciences or a closely related field is preferred.
Physical Demands
- Ability to operate standard office equipment
- Ability to walk short distances
- Ability to lift and carry parcels, packages and other items
- Ability to view a computer terminal
