Job Summary
Tuskegee University Center for Biomedical Research (CBR) is seeking multi-talented applicants for its Research Assistant. The Research Assistant is essential to managing the laboratory, including maintaining, ordering, and organizing reagent stocks, records, and equipment. Some of the specific responsibilities of this position include mouse models, immunohistochemistry, microscopy and other cell and molecular biology technique-based experience, and bioinformatic analysis as directed by the Principal Investigator (PI).
Essential Job Duties
- Manage the laboratory to perform experiments using a wide variety of molecular biology techniques
- Participate in laboratory activities, ordering supplies and maintaining inventory
- Assist undergraduate and graduate students in the lab
- Maintain records and files of work performed in laboratory notebooks and computer databases
- Assist in writing manuscripts, conference presentations, and grant applications
- Assist the PI and students in performing histological analysis, immunofluorescence studies, immunoblotting, cell culture, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry analysis, bioinformatic analysis as directed and mouse studies
- Assist with other duties as assigned
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
- PhD in biology or master’s degree of science in biology or bachelor’s degree of science in biology or equivalent degree will be considered
- Experience with molecular biology techniques such as western blotting, Immunohistochemistry, quantitative PCR analysis, flow cytometry and microscopy will be highly valuable
Physical Demands
- Ability to operate standard office equipment
- Ability to walk short distances
- Ability to lift and carry parcels, packages and other items
- Ability to prepare and analyzing data and figures
- Ability to view a computer terminal; extensive reading
Skills and Attributes
Knowledge of:
- Writing manuscripts
