Position Information

Position Title : Serials / Media / Interlibrary Loan Technician

Status : Full Time

Job Summary : The Serials / Media / Interlibrary Loan Technician assists with the daily management of the Technical Services Department for Tuskegee University Libraries.

  • Process incoming serials and periodicals (newspapers, magazines, journals, books on standing order) using Sirsi Workflows software
  • Label and shelve items as appropriate
  • Manage current serial subscriptions in electronic and print
  • Process interlibrary loans (borrowing and lending)
  • Interpret library rules and regulations to users
  • Sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail
  • Prepare all paperwork for journals and thesis binding
  • Prepare reports annually
  • Give support in other library areas as needed
  • Participate in campus activities
  • Train and supervise student workers

    • Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)

  • Associate degree in any field or two years of relevant library experience. Bachelor’s preferred
  • Basic knowledge of office practices and procedures

    • Skills and Attributes

  • Knowledge of computer software programs
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment
  • Ability to follow instructions and perform tasks as directed
  • Ability to effectively communicate, interact, and work in a team-based environment
  • Supervisory ability
