Job Summary
Support the ASRHHM program by coordinating with the farmers the schedules for the veterinary clinicians to perform veterinary services. Assist large animal clinicians and students in the Large Animal Hospital when not involved in ASRHHM duties
Essential Job Duties
- Support the ASRHHM program by coordinating with the farmers the schedules for the veterinary clinicians to perform veterinary services.
- Coordinate and organize the travel for the veterinary clinicians & students on the ASRHHM trips.
- Set up cattle chutes, round up cattle and restrain the cattle in chutes, perform herd health duties such as vaccination and deworming under supervision of a licensed veterinarian, and assist veterinary students in these activities.
- Stock and maintain the Ambulatory trucks, especially the ASRHHM-assigned vehicle.
- Maintain equipment, supplies and drug inventory associated with the ASRHHM program.
- Keep tally of all cases for record keeping and ensure that medical records are completed and submitted to the Medical Records supervisor in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH)
- Assist large animal clinicians and students in the Large Animal Hospital when not involved in ASRHHM duties
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- At least 2-3 years of large animal-related work experience (e.g. at a farm or veterinary clinic/hospital)
- Ability to drive ambulatory trucks and other farm vehicles needed to perform duties
- Have a satisfactory driving record
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift at least 50 lb., and possess manual dexterity
- Ability to drive ambulatory trucks and other farm vehicles needed to perform duties
Skills and Attributes
- Must be able to travel and be available for overnight stays on the ASRHHM program
- Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and work collaboratively with others (faculty, staff, students) in a collegial and diverse working environment.
- Must have strong work ethic and ability to follow instructions
