Position Summary:

The Business Development Manager is a key role responsible for driving growth in TUV SUD Medical Health Services' newly launched business line. This role will focus on identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities with medical device manufacturers in the cardio, ortho, and sterile product segments.

Operating within a defined territory, the Business Development Manager will manage strategic accounts, generate leads, and deliver tailored solutions from TUV SUD's comprehensive portfolio of testing and certification services. These include biocompatibility testing, sterilization validation, packaging testing, MRI safety assessments, and regulatory compliance evaluations.

The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to clients, leveraging deep industry knowledge and consultative sales skills to address complex regulatory and market challenges. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, technical experts, and operations, to provide exceptional customer value and establish TUV SUD as the partner of choice for medical device testing and certification.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Market Development & Client Relationship Management

Drive revenue by onboarding medical device manufactures for testing services as well as cross and upselling opportunities.

Identify and pursue new business opportunities for medical device testing services in key target markets and identified accounts as agreed on with your manager.

Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve sales and revenue targets, ensuring alignment with TUV SUD's overall business goals and product mix.

Evaluate market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscapes to inform and refine business development strategies.

Act as the primary contact for prospective clients, delivering tailored presentations and proposals to meet their needs

Establish and nurture relationships with key decision-makers at medical device manufacturers, contract development organizations (CDOs), and regulatory consultants.

Lead Generation and Pipeline Growth:

Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline to meet quarterly and annual revenue targets.

Proactively generate and qualify leads through networking, industry events, and targeted outreach.

Manage the sales cycle from lead identification to deal closure, ensuring high client satisfaction.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Partner with internal teams (testing, regulatory, and marketing) to ensure smooth execution of client projects and align offerings with market needs.

Provide market feedback to support the development of new or enhanced testing services.

Work closely with the sales team to ensure a seamless handoff of strategic accounts once your goals and targets have been achieved for continued customer support

Collaborate with marketing to create targeted campaigns and materials for lead generation.

Event Participation and Networking:

Represent TUV SUD at trade shows, conferences, and industry events to promote laboratory testing capabilities and build the company's reputation as a leader in medical device testing.

Stay updated on industry advancements, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge.

Your qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related technical field is preferred.

Advanced degrees (e.g., Master's or MBA) in relevant fields are an asset but not required.

Experience:

A minimum of 5 years of professional sales experience in B2B sales or business development, preferably in the medical device, IVD, or life science space.

Demonstrated expertise in medical device testing, particularly in biocompatibility, packaging, and microbiology testing services.

Strong knowledge of ISO 10993, ISO 11607, and other relevant standards and regulatory requirements for medical device testing.

Experience working with medical device manufacturers, regulatory agencies, or testing laboratories is highly desirable.

Familiarity with strategic account management, consultative selling, and long sales cycles for technical services.

Prior experience in identifying and developing new business opportunities, managing a sales pipeline, and growing key accounts.

Specific Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

Strong outbound sales and business development skills, including expertise in prospecting, lead generation, and managing the full sales cycle.

Consultative selling, leveraging exceptional communication and presentation abilities to articulate complex testing and certification services in customer-focused terms.

Proficiency in negotiation, relationship building, and CRM tools (e.g., Dynamics CRM, HubSpot) ensures the ability to track leads, analyze performance, and close high-value deals.

Strategic mindset, effectively prioritizing high-potential accounts and developing structured plans for territory and account management.

In-depth knowledge of the medical device industry, including regulatory frameworks such as ISO 10993, ISO 11737, ISO 11607, FDA, and EU MDR requirements.

Familiarity with challenges in cardio, ortho, and sterile product markets, along with technical expertise in biocompatibility testing, sterilization validation, and packaging testing, allows them to address customer pain points effectively.

Results-driven, highly organized, and skilled at collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver tailored solutions and build lasting client relationships.
