What are the responsibilities and job description for the RF/Wireless Technician position at TUV SUD America?
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically skilled RF/Wireless Technician to support product testing and compliance efforts related to radio frequency (RF) and wireless communication systems. The successful candidate will assist in the execution of RF performance testing, wireless regulatory pre-compliance and certification testing, as well as troubleshooting and data reporting. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced, collaborative lab environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Set up, calibrate, and operate RF and wireless test equipment, including:
Spectrum analyzers, VNAs, signal generators, RF power meters, chamber systems, and antenna positioning systems
Execute wireless testing procedures for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ZigBee, LTE, 5G, UWB, GNSS, etc.
Prepare products for test including wiring, configuring firmware, updating software, and logging parameters
Assist engineers in troubleshooting RF-related issues and identifying root causes of failures
Support environmental and mechanical test preparation (if needed)
Document results and maintain accurate test logs, photos, and compliance documentation
Ensure equipment is well-maintained, and calibration schedules are adhered to

EDUCATION:
High School or College diploma with technical certificate in Electronics Engineering Technology, RF/Microwave, Telecommunications, or equivalent
Basic understanding of wireless technologies (e.g., Wi-Fi, BLE, cellular) and RF fundamentals
Proficient with hand tools, test jigs, soldering small components, and working with prototype boards
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to follow test plans, procedures, and safety protocols
EXPERIENCE:
Working knowledge of and proficiency in the use of most MS Office 365 applications including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Accurate, clear, and timely communication of information, upward and lateral, including verbal, written and listening skills.
Customer focused, possess good communications skills, work well in a team environment, take direction positively, and contribute to the group.
Self-directed, improvement minded, and an ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
Communicate in a courteous and effective manner with internal and external customers.
