WGNO News in New Orleans has a unique opportunity for an Executive Producer of Special Projects . This person will lead our efforts in covering major issues impacting the New Orleans community and surrounding areas.The Executive Producer will be part of the newsroom leadership team and will work in tandem with all news dayparts, digital, as well as sales and marketing. We are looking for a strong journalist who loves researching and writing to create sizzling special projects that impact the lives of our viewers.This person will produce special programs for the station including elections, Mardi Gras, Behind the Badge, WGNO on the Road, hurricane specials, big coverage events, and monthly community specials. This individual will assist in the production and scheduling of weekly / monthly franchises. Equally important will be their contributions to daily editorial meetings to help enhance our storytelling. In addition, this person may be asked to produce regularly scheduled newscasts on a fill-in basis.Responsibilities : High level of organization to manage multiple projects at once while also planning for special projects.Develop original ideas for special story coverage and specials.Must have ability to research, write, and prepare stories and programs for on-air and digital.Ability to work in a team environment.Working with and guiding reporters and photographers in story production.Be a newsroom leader and a strong voice in editorial discussions.Communicating, coordinating, and executing creative vision with team of anchors, reporters, meteorologists, photographers, editors, and production staff.Responds to breaking news, weather, sports and other events as required.Travels as needed.Enterprises, develops, and produces stories under strict deadline pressure.Coordinates with the digital team to make sure wgno.com and social media are updated.Qualifications : Candidate should have previous experience as a newscast or special projects producer.Creative and able to bring new ideas to the table.Excellent writing, spelling, grammar, and copy-editing skills.Organized with strong planning skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and deadlines.Knowledge of editing (we use Adobe Premier).Producing knowledge (we use ENPS).Must be available to work holidays, shifts that include nights, weekends, and overnights, and flexible with schedule to be available during breaking news.Active in and knowledge of social media.College degree in broadcast journalism, broadcast news, or related field preferred.Send a link with your on-air portfolio.Nexstar Media Group, Inc.
