Summary
The Industrial Engineer is responsible for assembly and engineering processes integrated into TVS’s Value Added Assembly services. The Industrial Engineer will work as a part of a cross-functional team with procurement, operations, quality, and IT. The Industrial Engineer will work to improve efficiency, material routing, and operational effectiveness. The role will also require serving as a workstream leader for new product introduction, including designing and implementing assembly and manufacturing processes. The Industrial Engineer will identify and implement required fixtures, mechanical controls, electrical controls, visions systems, and other work aids as needed. This role reports directly to the Plant Manager and indirectly to the Vice President of Operational Excellence.
Essential Functions

- Collaborate in the design and development of new processes to optimize assembly efficiencies.
- Design, implement, and Document error-proofing, including DC torque tools, hydraulic and pneumatic jigs and fixtures, and PLC-based control logic.
- Evaluate existing processes, equipment, and products for effectiveness
- Develop and implement cost-saving measures
- Manage project tasks and coordinate with key stakeholders, including Operations, Business Development, and Finance.
- Analyse operational data, layout, material, and workforce utilization; make and implement recommendations for improvement
- Author engineering documentation including project plans, product deviations (ECNs), CAD files, bill of material, ladder logic, and equipment specifications and settings.
- Collaborate with procurement and supply-chain departments for supplier development activities.
- Identify, plan, and execute capital projects.
- Diagnose and resolve PLC ladder logic (RSLOGIX) and Vision Inspection Systems (Cognex). Complete break / fix actions for all PLC-driven equipment.
- Lead implementation activities for new or changing processes and systems.
- Provide training, resources, and documentation.
- Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine processes, staff requirements, and production standards.
- Confer with vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, service capabilities, and project status.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
This job is performed in a busy warehouse/manufacturing environment with high forklift traffic. Warehouses are subject to seasonal temperatures. Steel-toed shoes, safety glasses and vests are required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Full Time, Exempt. Schedule flexibility for extended or unplanned work hours is required.
Travel
National travel will be required on an as-needed basis.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required.
- 5 years of work experience in Industrial Engineering and Supply Chain Operations
- Proficient technical skills: MS Office, Outlook, CAD, Visio, RSLogix
- Demonstrated understanding of MTMs (Methods-Time Measurement) and experience diagnosing/resolving PLC ladder logic issues (Programable Logic Controller).
- Knowledge of a Warehouse Management System (WMS) or equivalent inventory software is preferred.
- Lean Manufacturing experience is preferred.
