Position Summary:
The School Nurse, Substitute provides oversight of the Health Services department and partners with the medical assistant to provide Health Services to students in transitional kindergarten through twelfth grade. Partners with senior administrators regarding health issues as they relate to school, directs activities of the health office, supervise health services staff, oversights health tracking and record keeping. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive health services to our students, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess student health needs and provide appropriate nursing care.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and maintain accurate health records in electronic health record
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to address student health issues and promote a healthy school environment
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all relevant health regulations and school privacy laws.
- Work in partnership with academic leaders and teachers to provide community education and provide resources to the community (i.e. newsletter articles, maintaining Blackbaud portal)
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN).
- Valid First Aid/CPR/AED certification
- Experience in school nursing is preferred
- Knowledge of health regulations and standards.
